chicks in pink support a range of care and treatment initiatives for both public and private breast cancer patients at the Mater. They have recently started donating two free bras to every mastectomy patient that is treated at the Mater Hospitals.
Every day in Australia, approximately 36 women discover they have breast cancer. This year alone, more than 12,000 women will learn that they have the disease. While early detection and medical advancements have resulted in a higher survival rate, for those diagnosed the road to physical and mental recovery is still long and often lonely.
The chicks number one aim is to bring positive energy and financial support to the fight against breast cancer through fun, innovative and educational activities.
The chicks raise funds through the sale of their signature merchandise online and at the chicks headquarters at South Brisbane.
chicks in pink events have also become regular features on the Brisbane social calendar. A committed following of supporters annually join the chicks at a range of fundraising lunches, dinners, fashion parades - and events like the International Women’s Day Fun Run and International Pink Ribbon Day.
