"You have breast cancer."
Each year, these four words change the lives of 13 000 Australian women.
In 2009, Josie Dietrich was shattered after hearing these words.
“Up until that moment I was convinced I would never get cancer. Getting breast cancer was absolutely horrific.” Josie said.
Whilst early detection and medical advancements have resulted in higher survival rates for those diagnosed with cancer the road to physical and mental recovery is still long and often lonely. That’s where your support can make a real difference.
“Mater’s chicks in pink program provided me with a lifeline.” Josie said.
“They were like a supportive umbrella over my hospital bed, stopping a heavy, black rain from falling on me.”
During September, Mater Foundation is holding an appeal to raise funds for breast cancer care and research at Mater. Look out for more information in your letterbox or make a donation online today.
