In this edition of Alumni News we celebrate and recognise the significant contribution that Mater nurses and midwives have made to our community. A contribution reflected in our motto of Honouring Yesterday, Celebrating Today and Investing in Tomorrow.
Each year, across the globe, nurses and midwives celebrate International Day of the Midwife on 5 May and International Nurses Day one week later on 12 May. Both days provide the perfect opportunity for nurses and midwives to celebrate their profession, and to show the world the importance of their work.
Few can say that their lives have not been touched by the hard work and dedication of nurses and midwives. This hard work and dedication is exemplified by inspirational people like Betty Kennedy who has had a long association with Mater and features in our cover story.
Thank you once again for all that you have done and continue to do to assist those in need. Nursing and midwifery, although at times challenging, are also very rewarding professions. May you continue to be rewarded both professionally and personally.
