Mater Nursing and Midwifery Alumni joined the many celebrations which took place around the Mater campus to recognise International Nurses Day and International Day of the Midwife with two special functions.

The Alumni provided a special afternoon tea at the 2010 International Nurses Day Seminar held on Wednesday 12 May. The Seminar, organised by Mater Nursing Research Centre and sponsored by The Queensland Centre for Evidence Based Nursing and Midwifery, covered a range of topics including intravenous extravasations injuries in NICU and using home CPAP in hospital.

According to Alumni Chairperson, Cheryl Clayton, the celebrations then continued in style at a special cocktail function held at Diana Plaza. The event, sponsored by Mater Nursing and Midwifery Alumni, was free for Alumni members and for all nurses and midwives currently working at Mater.

“The evening provided the perfect opportunity for past and present Mater nurses and midwives to get together and celebrate what it is to be a nurse,” said Cheryl.

More than 40 Alumni members and Mater nurses and midwives enjoyed the social networking opportunity as well as a free drink on arrival accompanied by a variety of canapés.
