Ask anyone at Dynamic Supplies why they support Mater and they will tell you it is because of the care Managing Director Scott McLennan’s son Jonah received in his first weeks of life.
Scott thought that his wife, Cath, was doing just fine with her pregnancy with their first son until she started to experience unusual pains at 28 weeks gestation. Sensing something was wrong, Cath’s doctor sent her straight to Mater where specialists informed Cath that she was in early labour. A short time later, Jonah was born weighing a little over 1kg.
"It was such a scary time. From the moment Cath called me to say she was in labour to when Jonah was born is such a blur," Scott said.
"The amount of equipment that Jonah was hooked up to, and the alarms that seemed to be going off every five seconds, are etched in my memory.
"I will never forget the constant care and reassurance from both doctors and nurses, even when Cath and I panicked at the alarms going off."
Even though he faced some challenges in those early days and spent a considerable time in Mater Mothers’ Hospitals’ Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU), Jonah is now a healthy 14-year-old that loves life.
