Santa visits sick kids at Mater this Christmas
Santa and his elves delivered some early Christmas cheer and presents to over 100 sick kids at Mater Children’s Hospital on December 20. The kids were all smiles opening their presents which included Lego, Dora and other toys for the kids to play with over Christmas.
The Mater Little Miracles Christmas Appeal is on again raising money for sick babies and children from across Queensland and northern New South Wales that are treated at Mater Mothers’ Hospitals and Mater Children’s Hospitals in Brisbane.
Over the next three years, Mater Foundation aims to raise $7 million to fund approximately 25 research projects to help improve medical outcomes for children, mothers and babies. Through research we can continue to improve medical practises to ensure more children get well and are able to go home especially at Christmas time.
Mater Foundation Executive Director Nigel Harris said it’s wonderful for Santa to visit sick children at Mater.
“We are very thankful for Santa’s visit from the north pole to give gifts to the children while they’re in hospital. The community can also help make little miracles happen for those children and babies who are in hospital by supporting Mater this Christmas,” Mater Foundation Executive Director Nigel Harris said.
This December we’re asking the community to help sick children by supporting the Mater Little Miracles Christmas Appeal and making a donation.
Each year Mater Children’s Hospitals treat more than 130 000 children and Mater Mothers’ Hospitals provide life-saving care to approximately 2000 critically ill and premature babies in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit—one of Australia’s busiest neonatology units.
