Step up to the challenge for sick children
Join hundreds of walkers at Scarness Esplanade on Sunday 12 September for the first annual Mater Little Miracles 5ks walkathon.
The Hervey Bay five kilometre walk will be a family day of fun thanks to the wonderful support of Australia Post.
This year, with the help of the Queensland community, Mater Foundation hopes to raise $100 000 for sick children and babies at Mater Children’s and Mothers’ Hospitals.
Last year, the Mater Children’s and Mater Mothers’ Hospitals cared for 427 mothers, children and babies from South Central Queensland.
“Mater Little Miracles 5ks is a great way for families to help make ‘little miracles’ happen for sick children and babies at Mater,” said Mater Foundation Regional Development Coordinator Lynne Sibley.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic day with a sausage sizzle, great giveaways and activities for the kids like Kimbo the clown, face painting as well as fabulous prizes.”
Each year, Mater Children’s Hospitals deliver exceptional care to 130 000 children and their families from across Queensland.
At Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, the Neonatal Critical Care Unit provides intensive specialist care to 2000 premature and seriously ill babies each year—many of which are flown in from regional and remote areas.
Pre-race entertainment and registration kicks off at 9 am, the walkathon starts at 10 am.
