The Mater Foundation enjoys the support of dedicated staff and volunteers who give their time and expertise to the continued success of the organisation.
These people come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring a diverse set of skills which enables the Mater Foundation to continue its work with the wider community to support Mater Health Services and the Mater Medical Research Institute.
Mater Foundation Senior Management Team
Nigel Harris, Executive Director
Nigel is the Executive Director at Mater Foundation with responsibilities for the overall operations of the Foundation and reporting to the Foundation's Board of Directors.
Nigel began with the Foundation as Director of Fundraising and then took over as Executive Director in 1997. He has worked in non profit organisations for over 25 years, specialising in fundraising, and has previously held senior roles with the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation in Queensland and Orana Incorporated and the Arthritis Foundation, both in South Australia. He has an MBA with a fundraising major, as well as public relations and marketing qualifications and is also a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).
Nigel's industry involvement includes being a Fellow and past national Chairman of Fundraising Institute - Australia and a past Board member of the North American based fundraising credentialing body CFRE International.
Lesley Ray, Fundraising Director
As Fundraising Director Lesley manages the Foundation's annual fundraising initiatives that engage the wider community with Mater's many services.
Prior to joining the Mater Foundation team, Lesley held senior fundraising positions at Queensland Cancer Fund and Endeavour Foundation.
Lesley is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Fellow of FIA, and is a graduate of the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at Queensland University of Technology. She is currently undertaking a Master of Business (Research) at QUT.
Bruce Dennehy, Commercial Director
Bruce and his Finance Team are responsible for the transactional accounting of the Foundation's various business activities, and for business analysis and decision support.
Bruce is the latest addition to the Foundation's Senior Management Team, having been appointed to his role in July 2009. Bruce brings a wealth of commercial experience to the Foundation, having held senior finance roles with a number of large corporations in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Bruce's experience in the not-for-profit sector includes roles with Mater Health Services and also at QUT.
Bruce is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
Mark Young, Director - Business Services
Mark manages the Foundation's Business Services Team which has responsibility for human resources, information technology, the distribution of approved funding, and all Foundation administrative functions.
He has a background in the finance industry having worked for several domestic and foreign banks for more than 15 years.
Sally Wilkins, Director - Lotteries
Sally joined the Mater Foundation in 2010 and currently manages the Foundation's rapidly expanding lotteries program.
Her previous experience includes public relations, brand management and database marketing in the FMCG and Insurance sectors. She is also a published researcher with a Masters by Research comparing Online and In store Customer Behaviour.
Kelly Barrington, Senior Manager - Fundraising Communications
Kelly and her team are responsible for working closely with Mater Health Services Marketing to deliver communications projects and initiatives that support Mater Foundation's fundraising programs.
She has over ten years experience working in not-for-profits and has been with Mater Foundation since 2004
