Rendezvous with Romance - Love changes everything

On Saturday 13 February, 540 guests enjoyed an evening of fine wine, dining and dancing at the Mater Foundation’s annual Valentine’s Day ball.

The talented dancers from the Trevor Green school of dance opened the evening with a romantic interpretation of the event’s theme, “Love Changes Everything”. Then the Robert Clark Orchestra led the fantastic range of performers, which saw acts ranging from the operatic and choral to jazz and pop.

MC extraordinaire, Ian Skippen, kept everyone laughing with his lively antics and ensured the show ran to time.

Ballandean Estate Wines provided perfectly matched wines and Hahn selected a great range of beers to complement the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre’s delightful three course dinner.

The room was elegantly decorated in a vintage theme with graceful white feathers and delicate orchids created by The Prop House.

Guests enjoyed furious bidding on a range of auction items, including a 1968 Penfold’s Grange and a Fiji Holiday donated by Ahura Resorts. The gorgeous cupids ensured everyone had a “Love Letter” and a chance to win a great raffle prize.

However, the highlight of the evening was when guests had the opportunity to try their key to unlock the Hyundai Getz, donated by Zupps.

This year’s Rendezvous with Romance celebrated 21 years of romance and philanthropy for the Mater Hospitals. While fundraising results are currently being tallied, all agreed it was a successful and enjoyable evening.
