Jen runs to fight melanoma

129585100-10157308184551012-3245291909249915964-n.jpgOn Saturday, Mater nurse Jen Lewis ran 60 miles (96.97 km) from Gatton to Springfield Central, in memory of her father, Vince, who lost his battle to melanoma in 2018.

Vince would have turned 60 on December 1, so Jen saw this as the right time to not only honour her dad’s memory, but to give back to Mater, where he received radiation treatment. To support her run, Jen has pledged for donations to go towards potentially life-saving research projects enabled by Mater Smiling for Smiddy.

As a Registered Nurse at Mater, Jen says she is humbled to be part of an organisation that supports patients and their families through some of the toughest days.

“The level of support and understanding I received, both personally and professionally, throughout Dad’s battle both in his final weeks and after he passed away, was truly exceptional and something I will be eternally grateful for,” said Jen.

You can still throw your support behind Jen and donate to her fundraising page.
