Mater Group Executive team up for RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run

Mater Group Executives are strapping on their walking shoes to take part in this year’s RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run  on 4 March, in support of women with breast cancer treated at Mater.

The group, who has signed up as Mater Group Executive team, will walk the 5 km and undertake local fundraising activities to help Mater Chicks in Pink raise more than $620 000 for breast cancer research and support services.

Mater Group CEO Shane Kelly said the fun run was one of Mater’s most significant, annual community events with more than 12 000 people participating each year.

“The RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run has become Brisbane's biggest celebration of women and a powerful show of support for Mater and our breast cancer research and services.

“Our Executive team aims to help create further awareness of the event and is committed to raising more than $3000 towards reaching our fundraising target,” he said.

Funds raised from this year’s event will help fund practical support services for patients such as counselling, yoga and art therapy and mastectomy bras, as well as fund life-saving research to better understand and treat breast cancer in the future.
