On Sunday 5 June, the Mater Little Miracles 5ks Walk raised more than $139 000 to help build Australia’s first 24/7 Pregnancy Assessment Centre at Mater Mothers’ Hospital.
More than 2500 people turned South Bank into a sea of pink and yellow for the walk, which this year included a 2.5km “little legs loop” for Mater’s youngest supporters.
There was plenty to see and do with a jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting, balloons, a sausage sizzle, fairy floss and popcorn and performances by Peppa Pig and Kiara Rodrigues.
Photos from the event have been posted on our Mater Little Miracles Facebook page, so check them out and don’t forget to tag yourself and your friends!
Thanks to the generous support of everyone who took part—and those who donated—we are one step closer to seeing Mater’s vision for a 24/7 Pregnancy Assessment Centre become a reality in 2017.
In Australia, as many as one in four women expecting a baby will experience complications early in their pregnancy, including bleeding and other issues.
Once opened, Mater’s Pregnancy Assessment Centre will provide obstetric care for women at any stage of their pregnancy, through to six weeks post-birth.
Not only will the Centre improve health outcomes for women and their babies in early pregnancy, but it will give all expectant mothers quality care, expert advice and peace of mind.
With your support, this year’s Mater Little Miracles 5ks Walk certainly made little miracles happen. To support Mater Little Miracles click here.
