Miles for Memories 2017 commences

Blog post from the Adventure Trekkers in San Francisco: Day 1

Greetings from sunny, fog-free San Francisco! All the team have arrived and we enjoyed a great seafood welcome dinner on the Bay last night.

Today, we had the privilege to be involved in a community project at Foodbank SF - Marin, which delivers more than a staggering 22 million kilograms of food to the San Francisco community each year. One-in-four residents in this area are in need of food assistance. The group joined other volunteer teams as we packed boxes of healthy groceries for seniors.

"This has really opened my eyes to how important volunteering is in the community," Mater Mothers' Hospitals' Clinical Policy Officer Jane Swan said.

Funds are still coming in, with the team having already reached an amazing $228 000 for dementia research.

You can continue to support dementia reseach at Mater and make your impact by donating to trekkers throughout the walk. For more information, visit the Miles for Memories 2017 website.
