On Sunday 6 March, South Bank turned into a sea of pink as 10 000 women—and a few brave men—turned out to celebrate the 25th RACQ International Women's Day Fun Run.
International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide and is a hugely important for many communities.
But for everyone who turned out for the 25th anniversary fun run, there was an extra incentive—to honour the 15 600 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
Community donations are still coming in, but so far more than $273 000 has been raised for Mater Chicks in Pink.
This contribution will help fund support items and services like house cleaning, counselling and mastectomy bras for women battling breast cancer who are treated at Mater.
If you didn't get a chance to show your support on the day and you had an amazing time, please consider showing your support online today.
A donation of just $35 can help provide a house cleaning voucher for a women who has undergone surgery to remove one or both of her breasts, with not only reduces her physical and financial burden, but gives her time to spend with family and friends.
