The 2019 House for Life charity home sold at auction for an incredible $986 000 on Sunday 8 September, with the funds going to Mater Little Miracles.
Renowned auctioneer Damien Cooley from The Block series built anticipation throughout the auction as three active bidders on the day fought it out to purchase the luxurious home.
The winning bid came from husband and wife Philip and Hayley Lakic from Coomera.
The stunning four bedroom Hampton’s style home, which boasts five living areas and an undercover alfresco area with a pool, is based at The Surrounds, a Villawood Properties community at Helensvale.
Mater Foundation Chief Executive Officer Nigel Harris said it was an overwhelming result.
“With 18 registered bidders prior to auction we were thrilled that there was so much interest in the home and that competitive bidding pushed the price to $986 000.
“It was also great to see more than 800 people come out to experience the excitement of the auction and witness the House for Life being sold for just under $1 million.
“The result means so much as these funds will go to supporting the 2000 seriously ill and premature babies who are cared for at Mater’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit each year, as well as to fund important research projects to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.
“Congratulations to Philip and Hayley who will now come home to this beautiful residence with the knowledge that so many families will benefit from their purchase.”
This House for Life marks the eighth home that Plantation Homes has built and auctioned, with all proceeds going to Mater Little Miracles, and the inaugural year partnering with Villawood Properties, which donated the land.
“We would like to thank the enduring support of Plantation Homes who rallied their trades and suppliers once again to build this home,” Mr Harris said.
“Your support and commitment to Mater Little Miracles has only strengthened over the 12 years that we have partnered for the House for Life project, and for that we are truly grateful.
“And thank you to Villawood Properties for coming on board this year to donate the land. What a generous gift you have given to Mater,” he said.
Ninety-six trades and suppliers donated their time and resources over eight months to build this special family home.
Since the first House for Life home was auctioned in 2007, close to $3.5 million has been raised for Mater Little Miracles.
