Susan Andrews and James Rutledge recognised as a Mater Foundation Community Hero
We are delighted to celebrate Susan Andrews and James Rutledge who have been acknowledged as a Mater Foundation Community Hero!
Susan and James welcomed their son, Rex, a little earlier than expected after Susan experienced some difficulties with her pregnancy. After being transferred from their local hospital to Mater Mothers’, Susan’s waters broke just shy of 25 weeks’ and it was found that Rex was feet first with the umbilical cord wrapped around his feet. Following medical intervention and strict bed rest, Rex was born at 29 weeks’ and spent the next 51 days in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) receiving care around the clock.
Susan and James consider themselves lucky and are so grateful for care and support their family received at the Mater Mothers’ NCCU.
On 25 May, Susan and James’ business, Rutledge Drilling, held their first charity golf day to show their appreciation for their care team, raising more than $12,000 for Mater Little Miracles.
Mater Foundation Community Hero recognises and celebrates the inspiring contributions of our volunteers, fundraisers and advocates.
Thank you, Susan and James, we value your outstanding contribution!
