The ongoing generosity of people like you has enabled clinical programs and services, education and training, promising health-related research projects, equipment and mission activities to continue here at Mater.

Generations of Queenslanders have had their lives changed for the better, because of people like you. But the community's need for this work to continue is greater than ever before.

Your generous support  has helped fund vital projects like:

  • The build of the new Mater Mothers’ Hospitals in Brisbane, which opened on 4 June 2018. Today, more than 10 000 babies are born at these two hospitals each year. Read more.
  • The creation of the Emotional Health Unit private inpatient ward, the Amanda Flynn Clinic, as part of the Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane. Read more.
  • The build of Mater’s stroke unit within the Centre for Neurosciences in Brisbane—a unit purpose-designed for the optimal treatment of stroke patients. Read more.
  • The Queensland Family Cohort Study—this landmark research project is looking into the health of 10 000 families across Queensland over a number of years. Read more.
  • New treatments for anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder through Dr Dhanisha Jhaveri’s work. Read more.
  • Developing vaccines to treat a variety of cancer types, including one to target acute myeloid leukaemia, melanoma, prostate and ovarian cancer led by Associate Professor Kristen Radford. Read more.
  • Mater’s Diploma of Nursing Scholarships for people wanting to start their career in healthcare who are from a refugee or disadvantaged background. Read more.
