In November we acknowledge Clancy Follett-McDonald, who has been named as a Mater Foundation Community Hero.
After sitting and waiting for a number of appointments following her breast cancer diagnosis in often blank waiting rooms and other empty spaces, Clancy started to imagine what these spaces could look like when filled with colour and life. So in 2010, together with her friend Sherri and Breast Care Nurse Jenny, she started The Creative Express.
Sessions are held at Mater Private Hospital Redland, where breast cancer patients come together to chat and share their experiences, while creating their own masterpieces. These unique pieces are then sold, raising funds for Mater Chicks in Pink. Clancy, together with The Creative Express, has raised over $75,000 to continue to support women with breast cancer.
