In November, we celebrate Lyn and Jo who have been named Mater Foundation Community Heroes.
Lyn Thompson, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and is fundraising alongside her colleague, Jo who also had breast cancer and underwent treatment at Mater. The two besties at work have bonded over this shared experience.
The aptly named Breast Friends fundraising dinner held on Saturday 8 October at the Southern Cross Sport Club was a great success raising over $6,000. Stories were told, tears and laughter were had and many people walked away with some fantastic raffle prizes.
Lyn and Jo are fundraising because they both know the effect breast cancer has on them and their families. They want to raise awareness for all women and men who are going through the journey.
