We are pleased to recognise Michelle as a Mater Foundation Community Hero for her exceptional dedication and impact!
When Michelle Chapman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, she experienced firsthand the care and compassion that Mater Chicks in Pink provide beyond treatment.
“Mater Chicks in Pink supported me in those in-between moments that people don’t always see, when you’re trying to hold yourself together and just get through the day.” Michelle shares.
Determined to turn her experience into something purposeful, Michelle began fundraising for Mater Chicks in Pink. Over the past two years, she has raised more than $25,000 to help ease the burden for other women facing breast cancer.
Michelle’s commitment went beyond fundraising. Inspired by her own journey, she launched Akoya Clothing, a pyjama range designed for women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These garments provide a discreet and dignified way to store drains post-surgery, and a portion of every sale supports Mater Chicks in Pink.
Michelle’s message to others:
“To everyone who has donated, shown up, or quietly supported someone through this, your care matters more than you’ll ever know. And to any woman facing a hard season right now, you are not alone, even when it feels that way.”
Michelle’s efforts exemplify the spirit of our Community Heros, who make a profound difference in the lives of those in need.
Thank you, Michelle. Your outstanding contribution and unwavering commitment inspire us all!
