Ormiston College is being recognised as a Mater Foundation Community Hero for the second time. We are delighted to celebrate Ormiston College, once again, for their outstanding support and dedication to the Mater Foundation.
This year, Ormiston College celebrated 10 years of supporting the Mater Foundation through their impactful fundraising initiative, The Chop. This initiative was launched by Social Justice Leadership Prefects, India Hedger and Michaela Mulder, inspired by Michaela’s mother's victorious battle with cancer and the challenges she faced accessing treatment in the Redlands area. Initially, sixteen young women took part, raising $7,000. This year, 53 Year 12 students took part and raised over $59,000.
Over the last ten years, Ormiston College's commitment has resulted in more than $240,000 being raised for Mater Chicks in Pink. Each year, senior girls proudly cut their hair to be donated and made into wigs at the beginning of Term 4, reflecting their dedication to Mater Chicks in Pink. This heartfelt tradition has become a proud legacy at the school, motivating younger students to participate when they reach Year 12.
Mater Foundation Community Hero recognises and celebrates the inspiring contributions of our volunteers, fundraisers and advocates.
Thank you again, Ormiston College, we value your continued outstanding contribution!
