In February we acknowledge Katherine Brown and Tania Burling, who have been named as Mater Foundation Community Heroes.
Following her ovarian cancer diagnosis, Katherine has been a passionate supporter of the Feel Teal campaign, raising awareness and funds for research to help improve the survival rate of ovarian cancer.
Supported by Tania, the pair have held the annual Katherine’s High Tea for over 10 years, and in 2023, they raised over $22,000 to support this cause that is so close to their hearts.
As an advocate for awareness, Katherine would like to see mass screening become available for ovarian cancer, to help improve the rates of early detection.
“Until there is a test, awareness is best,” she says.
