Lisa Russell recognised as a Mater Foundation Community Hero

We are delighted to celebrate Lisa Russell, who has been acknowledged as a Mater Foundation Community Hero!

Lisa has been supporting Mater Foundation for the past four years. Lisa started “Catherine’s Cupboard” at Mater Private Hospital Springfield, to provide additional clothing and toiletries supplies for those most in need. Lisa has since gained the support of Big W, who provide bi-annual gifts to continue to fill Catherine’s Cupboard.

Also, every Christmas, Lisa puts together a gift pack for any patients staying in hospital at Mater Private Hospital Springfield, so they have a gift to open on Christmas Day. Lisa donates her time and gifts at Christmas after spending time in hospital herself when her daughter was baby and waking up on Christmas morning to a gift from a volunteer. It gave her tears of joy then and she hopes to deliver the same impact to other patients.

“A small gesture can mean a lot,” Lisa said. “A thoughtful word or a gift to someone in need can make a real difference.”

Lisa hopes to show her children the positive effects of giving to others.

Mater Foundation Community Hero recognises and celebrates the inspiring contributions of our volunteers, fundraisers and advocates.

Thank you, Lisa, we value your outstanding contribution!
