In April, we acknowledge Rebecca Langdon, who has been named a Mater Foundation Community Hero.
Since 2019, Rebecca has honoured her friend Tara by participating in the International Women’s Day Fun Run. Rebecca has raised vital funds for Mater Chicks in Pink and awareness of breast cancer, advocating for early detection and diagnosis to ensure the best possible treatment and outcomes. The “giant boob” costume which Rebecca wears every year is a quirky reminder of the breast cancer awareness message.
“I know a few women under 40 now who have received a breast cancer diagnosis. The message of regularly checking your breasts (every month) is so important to me,” Rebecca said.
Rebecca’s biggest driver for fundraising is to advance research for breast cancer treatment. As a researcher, she knows only too well how important it is to have adequate funding to support the advancement of new treatments and technologies for patients now and into the future.
Thank you, Rebecca, we value your incredible dedication and contribution.
